They aren't going to scrap the DBPF (package) format. Otherwise they've gotta remake every single bit of their crap, and probably screw up more than they fix. The most they could do is completely convert the various resources contained in a Sim's package file to other resource types, which would come up as "Unknown" in an outdated SimPE, or move stuff from the Neighborhood file into the Sim's file.
Personally, I always thought the relationships should be stored in the Sims' files, not in the 'hood file. But that's me. |

Actually, when Bon Voyage came out, I installed it, then tried to start this project. SimPE wouldn't even let me look at the information. Of course, with BV there were some radical programming changes from what I've heard, so that's probably not entirely unexpected. I dunno how much the code has changed from BV to Free Time, so I'm just going to play it safe. Besides, this means all my hard work will be done with so that when I get ready to play, the only work I'll have to do is pulling the houses and killing off the inhabitants, then move in the ancestors with a fresh house (and all the furniture set up already!)

Hmm. Just got it today... now I HATE SimPE so I will have to go look if SimEnhancer is updated yet. I guess it might be safest to play a completely new Hood, separately, so I don't lose my oldest families. I assume that the new options will come in with new Sims, created fresh or born ingame? Wonder what happens to older ones?

If it's like previous expansion packs, the old sims should all be updated to have the Bon Voyage options. Yeah, I think it's a good idea to test things out in detail in a whole new neighborhood before risking your favorite sims. Then try out old sims that you have played but don't much are about before moving on to your star line.
At least, that's what I did the last time I installed new expansion packs.

Are we going to see screen shots of murder and mayhem?

I would love to see a screen shot of a satellite hit. In what, 4 years now, I have yet to get one killed that way no matter what I tried. That seems to have a worse chance of happening than the alien abductions.

Use the testingcheatsenable cheat.
Shift click the mailbox and pick Rodney's Death Creator. Click a Sim, then choose Death by Satellite from the menu on the death creator. |

Yup. Rodney's Death Creator is the only way I have ever seen a satellite hit. It's pretty cute but it goes by so quickly that you could overlook it if you don't happen to be watching that part of the screen.

To spawn Rodney's Death Creator (and a buch of other neat stuff), shift-click on a sim while you have "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true".
One of the things on the list is Tom's Clothing Tester. Beware of it. If you use it, it will mess up your sim's career path. Added: Ref: http://thesims2.simshost.com/cheats/...testingcheats/

Thanks for the link - I've tried the Tolad before but it's been a long time. I've gotten so used to using the Insimenator that I've forgotten everything the testing cheats does - just Alzheimers setting in I guess.

Yeah, me too. I don't think Eric included a feature to kill a sim, though.

No, he didn't - at least not an immediate death. Tho, all you have to do to accomplish the same thing is make'em an elder and then add days to fill up the meter and wait til 6 pm.

Then it's back to good ol' Rodney's if you want to see the satellite!
