Default How Do I figure out...

I would like to move away from making my downloads an entire package with a sim. How do I figure out which thingy is what I need to put in the zip?

I apologize if this is a repeat request...I searched around and couldn't find the answer I was looking for...

Thanks in advance!
Sharon
PS....I made a few sweaters I want to test out with the new method. I'll share those here if anyone want to be my sim guinea pig

Just go to My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/SavedSims/ (or the Vista equivalent) and sort by date. Your filenames will have 8 hex digits (0-9, a-f), an underscore, and whatever you named your project when you created it. They're probably also the newest files in SavedSims.

Sure, we'll be your guinea pigs! (Carrot was mine until I got the game!)

they are the only files there. So I rename them and send them off in a zip?

TSR insists they remain un-renamed if you submit there, but I've never had a problem with a renamed file.

Checking out your sweaters!

Why would they not want you not to rename the files on TSR? The game doesn't use the filenames for anything.

Might be a creater insurance thing?
Kinda like "Did you really make this file becaue we see here that you have made a "special" name and not an EAxis name that means nothing...we will have to send out men in yellow suits with baseball bats to your door." Which of course is stupid, considering that anyone with a computer can make changes to a file--so the mystery remains....

Dunno. The only thing I can think of is that in the pre-release BodyShop, you couldn't rename the files or the clothes wouldn't show up in your or anyone else's BodyShop. I just know they turned down some cute toddler outfits because I'd changed the filenames. Fooey to them, I just put 'em on Insim!

Yeah, the only reason I can think of is that if the file has been renamed, then you know it has been renamed; and renaming someone else's work is one way to steal things.

On the other hand, I have always had very negative thoughts about artists who don't put their personal identifier first in the filename. It's impossible to sort files that start with a hex code.

I hate hate HATE "alphabet soup" files.

I freely admit that any such files I find on my PC- be they Maxis or User made- are renamed without an ounce of guilt.

I am not copying, stealing or otherwise altering them.

They are simply being made usable, in my opinion.

Indeed. I even rename stuff that I've made with no itent to put it on line.

It doesn't matter if it's something that you have had in your game for years; it will still show up. You can rename any file in your Downloads folder with no worries at all.

I usually rename downloaded files with the artist's name at the beginning.
