Your neighbors will blast their steroes and make other annoying sounds, which are transmitted into your Sim's apartment.

Here's the "tip" EA sent:

Living in apartments potentially means being at the mercy of noisy neighbors. To minimize sleep disruption, put your Sim's bed in a room that does not share a wall with another apartment. If you can't do that, try putting furniture and decorations against the shared wall. The more stuff you pile up against the wall, the less chance your Sim will hear the boisterous shenanigans of their neighbors.

EA strangeness strikes again.

The "tip" about covering the walls with stuff was also in the AL Game Guide (Prima) however it was implied that "neighbor noise" was something that might happen, not something that will happen.
