Default Miros' version of the clothing conversion tutorial...

This is specialized for Kaylin's desire for Bear Body Builder clothing, but it's pretty general.

Open BodyShop.

Make two projects, one based on the outfit you like (put "Donor" in the name, so you know you can get rid of it later), and one based on the Bear mesh with the most similar silhouette. Give that one a more generic name so you can use it over and over, like FavSuitBBB.

Using Windows Explorer, drag the bitmap files from the Donor project to the Bear project. There will be two or three. I usually copy, rather than move. To do this, use the right mouse button to drag. When you let up, you'll get a context menu with the choices of "Move" or "Copy."

Test fit (but don't click the Import button to bring the resized outfit into the game yet).

Check the seams, especially under the arms and inside the thighs. Use a paint program to smudge areas with gaps. If you don't have one, there's an open source free proggie named Gimp from gimp.org. Use the circular arrow button to reload your changes. Warning: sometimes you just pick the wrong mesh to convert. In that case, you just need to pick a different Bear mesh, make a new project if necessary, and drag the donor textures in.

When you're happy with it, fill in the Tooltip text with something descriptive like "Kaylin Creator-Suit BearBB." You want to put your name, so people know where it came from and the size so you don't get confused which are which while dressing your Sim. "Creator-Suit" is just an example... you want to put some info on the original creator. It's just perlite!

Choose your catagory or catagories. BodyShop does misbehave when you reload a project with multiple catagories, but you can most likely get used to it.

Import it into your game! Admire your hard work.

Delete the Donor project.

Make more!

Close BodyShop.

Open your game.

Dress your favorite Bear-sized Sims in their new clothes.

(If you just want to play the game with your new clothes, quit here and play!)

Take screen shots.

Close your game.

Zip the clothes files, located in SavedSims, not Projects.

Upload screen shots and zip files if you have permission from the original artist or they have usage guidelines that allow you to modify their stuff and repost it. It's also a good idea to put a link to the BearBB mesh you're using, and maybe the skintone if you think people will want to duplicate your Sim's appearance.

I have only seen The Sims while looking over Crystal's shoulder, but I do have a question!

What are you converting clothing to?

In this case, Rose is converting clothing from one body shape to another. The shape of the character's body is defined by a three-dimensional mesh. What this does is take the textures that are mapped onto one mesh, and puts them on a differently shaped mesh.

If I'm understanding correctly, it will make the sims have the same shape naked as when they have these re-meshed clothes, right?

What they look like naked depends on the mesh used by the skin tone. You can put sims in any shape of outfit, regardless of what nude body shapes they have. The tricky part is getting them to be consistent no matter what type of outfit they are wearing.

This is so you can have a Sim with a "Bear Body Builder" skintone and "Bear Body Builder" clothing, and he'll look about the same shape nekkid as with clothes on!

(Or any other shape or size that you like...)

Did you ever explain what a "Bear Body Builder" is?

I think I did back in the thread where I recommended the Bear Body Builder to Kaylin...

It's a body builder that's a bit pudgy. Think smallish Sumo wrestler or Russian weight lifter from the '70s.

Yes, you did. I saw that note right after I posted the question in this thread.
