boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true BTW, with MikeD tightly holding my hand, I updated my nVidia drivers and fixed at least 2 of my three video glitches. But now I'm tempted to load even more crud into my game! I gotta get the "randomize crud" utility working... |

I have gobs of error logs in here. I'll have to let the game crash to make sure I'm looking at one associated with the birth-crash problem. There is one intriguing object error associated with InTeen: Code:

If updated video drivers can fix video errors, I'm wondering if an actual Sound Card (as opposed to this silly on-board chip thingy) might help do away with some of those sound errors??? I won't mind them so much except they are the reson I can't open CAS for any lenght of time!

I have a ton of sound errors, and I leave both BodyShop and CAS hanging for ages while I do something else, no problems.

Body shop works fine, but if I try to spend more that say 10 minutes in CAS, *poof* it's back to my desk top, all because some fricken audio file "failed to play". (Again, why that should lead to a chrashout is way beyond me!) This has- obviously- put a serious damper on creating any (fun) Sims of my own. For now I'm at the mercey of the Maxis pre-mades (& offspring) & the various Townies/Downtownies & Dormies. (Thankfully, your Townie Replacement thread has made them alot easier to tolerate!) It's also a real pain to design my own (the way I think they should look) dog breed templets. If I can work up the nerve, I'm going to see if I can at least get the "mini CAS" you get when you buy a dog from an actual store to last long enough to make some templets...but I'm rather gun-shy after my crashout problems!

That's weird.
Have you tried making your Sims in BodyShop and loading them into CAS? That way you only have to dress them and set their aspirations and relationships. |

Are you, by any chance, using a custom CAS?
I'm also wondering if all or any of \My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Accessory.cache \My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\cigen.package or \My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Groups.cache could have become corrupt. Last edited by mikedelaney16 : 07-27-2007 at 06:17 PM. |

Might be worth a shot! (It's too bad you can't use Body Shop to create pets!) Quote:

How can I replace/fix them? I know I can delete the Groups cache & the game will just re-make it...is it the same for the cigen/accessory files?

The last time I tried installing a custom CAS lot, I messed up somewhere. Is there a trick to doing a custom CAS lot with Nighlight + Open for Bidness that I don't know about?

Used to be, you zipped up the !CAS lot somewhere in your Program Files/etc. directory, then dragged in the same named file from the zip file.
Now they're saying you can just drop one into Downloads and it will work fine. Check the CAS Lot download forum on InSim. Yes, Mike, that's where the Warlokk's Tower lot is... |

Warlock's CAS sounds nicer than the Maxis one, so I may have to give it a try just for fun.
Good grief! Thanks for the instructions for the "Body Shop Into CAS" thing! There is no way I would ever have figured that out on my own! I'm planning on doing some- gulp- CAS testing tomorrow, to see if I can narrow down my crashout problem. (I've even gone so far as to set only 1 music option for the CAS screen, under the Audio Options tab...) EDITED TO ADD: Erm...if I want to use Warlocks CAS screen, to I have to install all his ridiculously huge (IMHO) female "enhancements"? (It almosted sounds like I do in his description.) Not being a guy, I'm not gaa-gaa over that stuff...

Nope. Only if you wanna make Sims who are "big in the business." I don't have most of the bigger ones installed either. |

I actually do like some of the (less exagerated) meshes, but I'm worried about them fitting into anything!
