I'm hopping it was a case of "Non-Compatible 3rd Party Mod Syndrome" (which can do all sorts of fun stuff to a game) rather than a BV problem.
I say this because I am doggedly determined to add that thing to my game...

Well, there's a warning too about BV adding unnecessary files to packaged bodyshop sims. So you can pass them on, virus-like to others, or they can be passed to you. You can use SimPE and/or the clean installer to check things out, but I understand it's a tad time-consuming. Let me see if I can find a link to the original info...here ya go.

Oh terrific...
Thanks for the link! Hmmmm. Now I'm confused: are all "alphabet soup" files bad or not? (I swear some meshes show up as soup...) Good grief, I don't wanna have to wade through the over 10,000 files in my Downloads folder...GAAAAAAAA!

If you use Clean Installer, you shouldn't get as many "alphabet soup" files, unless the creator of the Sim or lot has previously used the Maxis installer...
In addition to what I said in the other post, DDO will also help detect Duplicates, assuming you (or the creator of a Sim or lot you downloaded) haven't used JFade's compressor. |

I'm pretty good about running everything through Clean Installer now & have never downloaded a lot (except the Lycos Hub from Sims 2 Graveyard) so none of the "soup" files I have are flagged as Global Hacks thankfully!
Actually, 99.9 % of my "soup" problems are all "Official" Maxis Content (from various "Maxiod_" creaters) from the exchange or Sims 2 Graveyard. Not that it surprises me Maxis/EA would use soup to name their friggen files...
