Regenerating Katt & Kim Familes?

I am working through a reset (not a reinstall, just a reset) & for reasons I can't determine, the Katt & Kim (Pets EP) families are not showing up in the Occupied Lots bin like they should be.

Cyd, Porthos, Danny & Sarah are there, but no Katt or Kim houses!

It's as though the game remembers that they have been placed...but it shouldn't, as I wiped out the whole Sims 2 folder (under My Documents) & I though that was where all that info was stored.

Any ideas?

(My last "reset" worked brilliantly, so I have no idea what's up this time!)

(Not being a Pets kinda guy, I am unqualified to comment here.)

Are the Katt and Kim families showing up in lots that are in the neighborhood? What is a "reset" anyway?

No, they are not & now I think I know why: I accidentally annihilated their houses from the Pets EP Lots folder. Their Character files are in place, but since they are "tied" to their respective houses- and I accidentally removed them- they can't regenerate in the Occupied Lots Bin like they want to.

I am hoping for a way to get them back without having to roll back the darned game again! (I tried looking on the Pets disks, but all I found were "empty" TSData folders...)

A "reset" is when you wipe out the My Documents\EA Games\Sims 2 folder & let the game regenerate the default Hoods & such, if you haven't zipped them up.

It's a slicker way to start over fresh than having to do an uninstall/reinstall...unless of course you do a stupid thing like remove lots from the core game files that you want!

Grrr...

*sigh*

I think I will save the reinstall 'till tomorrow....

If you can wait 'til noonish, I can find the zipped files for their houses and ship them to you...

Remember, the Katt house has the big cat residence too close to the wall, so the cats claw the furniture for fun!

Actually I tried something that is either smart or stupid, depending on how important "Load Order" is.

I uninstalled/reinstalled just the Pets EP (not the rest of em) & have everything back. I was a little disturbed that the game seemed to "auto patch" itself...but maybe I am being paranoid?

So now the question is; did I screw anything up by adding an EP out of sequence?

Everything seems okay right now (though of course I had to re-nuke Sarah's pregnancy) but I guess I won't know for certain until I get in there & play a Hood...

EA says that you should be able to install the expansion packs in any order, so my guess is that it's OK to install Pets the way you did.
