Have you tried the a-dog-will-protect-us ploy?

I like the "dog-will-protect-us" ploy!
Thankfully, I grew up in a dog loving household, so I had no problem getting my dogs. (Some of my dogs had problems...but that's another stort for another thread!) I wish I could find the darn thing right now, but many many years ago (80's) I had a subscription to Dog Fancy magazine & they once ran a really nice poem entitled "Momma Didn't Like Dogs". It was about a child that desperately wanted a dog, but mom kept saying no. Then a stray dog mysteriously starts to show up by their gate every time it's a holiday or birthday. In the end of course, Mom finally caves. I still remember the last line: "...and though Momma never did like dogs, now Chester's her best friend." I'll have to see if I can scrounge it up somewhere. Maybe it would help you in your dog quest! -ZW

I can't think of a good way to talk your mother into letting you have a dog because we always had dogs. They can take up a lot of your time though its like having another family member.
