The greatest problem that I have with SimPE is trying to follow tutorials where the instructions don't match what I'm seeing. In ever tutorial that I have tried, I'll run across a spot where it says to "click on Gizmo X" where there is no Gizmo X to click on.

I don't know why my SimPE wouldn't look like someone else's SimPE, but apparently that's what's happening.

Sita, yes, the hair binning plug in was written by someone named Theo. It's very good, especially if you follow my tutorial which helps you bypass the potholes I stepped in and destroyed a few files. Fortunately, I still had the zips.

Hokieman, that's good to know! Maybe I'll try WW...

Greg, yes, if you do just what you listed, your thumbnails should be darn near perfect.

I'm not sure why Quaxi obsessively changes the interface, but every revision of the software has changes somewhere, which breaks a couple tutorials. I'm pretty good at finding the equivalent command, but I know many people are stumped by his changes.

I'm spreading the addiction by corrupting all my friends (and attempting to make in-game money when they try the game).

Yeah, that must be the problem. My experience would not reinforce the theory that arbitrary changes to the user interface are improvements.

This is EXACTLY why I don't use SimPE. I think it is because the version changes fairly frequently and people don't think to update their tutorials... if you know the program pretty well you can probably adapt to a new layout but for new people like me, or stupid people like me, it becomes completely impossible.

I doubt that it's a matter of being stupid, but rather not being part of the "in" crowd who see all these changes coming along as they are developed (and perhaps not really having the time to invest in becoming a member of the cult).

Actually, the Thumbnails folder is in Windows Explorer, specifically My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Thumbnails. Sorry!
