Not to mention, every now and then the kids get a "snow day" so they can catch up on homework and build skills! Whaddahyamean, the kids are supposed to go outside and build snowmen and have snowball fights?
The Sims also get weather/seasonal wants, like See (various forms of precipitation) or Buy Garden Plot or Buy Fruit Tree or Plant Seed. |

It might be worth it to install Seasons so that there's more than the Endless Summer going on, although a snow covering wouldn't be very realistic for a story set in southern Texas.

The Fall is nice though, that might be more realistic for Texas. I like to see them sweeping up the leaves, filling compost bins and generally gardening. Of course, when Mom and the kids have swept the leaves into nice neat piles, Dad comes out and jumps in them....
Of course if you were to install Bon Voyage as well, you could have the realistic weather in your holiday locations as well. Seaside places OUGHT to be sunny and warm - even though where I live isn't. And my Sims love the snowy days in winter; unlike real people, who hate to get cold and wet, or who slip and slide, they never fall, just go run joyfully around in it till they are blue! And I love watching the toddlers eating snow, that you do have to see, Greg! |

Ohh... I just might break down and install Seasons and even Pests just to see more cute toddler animations. I really like cute toddler animations!

The toddlers eat snow? I haven't seen that yet!
Don't forget, the dogs and cats lick the toddlers and the toddlers maul, err, cuddle the animals... |

Toddlers will try to eat anything they can get their hands on!

Well, I don't let my toddlers outside much, except in no-foundation houses where they can run out in the street under their own power, so I don't think they've had a chance to eat any snow. Boogers, yes, snow, no.

Eeee-yeewww! My toddlers are better behaved than that. They just shake 'em onto the carpet.
That's a good point. The only time I've had toddlers outside is when there's a fire and someone carries them out. I've always thought it was a shame that sims don't go visiting as families and bring the kids along. But then, they don't even bring their spouses along unless you work at it. For most of my sims, that's so totally out of character that it's not even funny.

With some expansion pack (or maybe the infamous phone hack), I acquired the ability to Call->Sim, then pick "Invite Household." I've heard bad things about visiting babies getting left by the mailbox, so I've been very careful not to invite any households with infants. I guess I'll have to try it with toddlers -- more cute dog mauling, err, cuddling pictures to post!
Toddlers in houses without foundations will go cruising down the sidewalk if you don't lock the door to keep 'em in. Oh, toddlers will eat dog food; your tots can be self-sufficient if you give them a bowl of dog food and the floor blankie! You can just lobotomize the nannies and let them sit around watching the Yummie Channel. Well, I guess the toddelrs can "Ask for Attention" if they get lonely before the parents get home. I suspect that "Invite Household" is some hack that I haven't seen. On the other hand, it might be available in my game and I've just never noticed it. It wouldn't be the first time that I overlooked an option on the telephone.

No, it's not a hack, I think it came with Seasons. Or maybe Pets.
My households with small children don't show the small children in the menu, so you can invite parents and older kids but not the tinies. |

Neat! Yet another reason that I might want to consider the possibility some time next year or so!

yes.
New Hood and families and houses. Just as there was a new Hood and families in Seasons. Free Time Hood is called Desiderata. BTW the Seasons new hood has a nice trap - it's set up mostly as farming/gardening homes, but if you look at the season settings it's actually a neighbourhood in the North somewhere - long winter! |

What's the path to the folder and the name of the folder? I assume it's something like C:\Program Files\The Sims 2 Free Time\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate\F001, but need to be sure.
I thought winter lasted an awful long time, but thought it was me just being impatient to plant... |

In a way yes. From the neighborhood screen you can set the seasons by quarter year so you can make an eternal summer or have a fall, winter, winter, spring year or any combination you want.
On a lot, there is an aspiration object to control the season or weather. You can keep lengthing the current season or go to any one you want. In my uni lots I keep adding to fall since there is a skilling bonus then for instance. I also played with the weather and had it raining all the time just trying to see if I could get a sim hit by lightning. Ended up with weeds getting out of control. You just have to play around with it til you get what you want. |

Ah, I get it. You just have to learn to pay homage to Noaa the weather god.
