That just has to be because of our English language oddities.
To us here, who use formal Oxford English. The English, the Queen of England speaks, American spelling is just plain wrong.
Then of course, according to Microsoft, if it ain't Merican English, It is a Foreign Language.
True, in our Aussie copies of Office etc, we find our "proper" dictionaries under "Foreign Languages".
