(Stolen from The Cake Mix Doctor, a cookbook I whole heartedly recommend)

1 Devils Food cake mix (cheapo one is fine)
1 14-15 oz can cherry pie filling (cheapo is fine too)
2 eggs

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease your pan(s). You can use any pan or combination of pans that you'd use for a normal 2 layer cake. I like my Bundt pan personally. Maybe I'll drag out my old Tiara pan and use that and an 8" layer pan next time...

Combine in a mixing bowl and beat with a mixer on low until combined, then on medium until it looks like cake batter with small lumps.

Bake according to your pan size. About 20 min for 8" layers up to 50-55 min for the Bundt pan.

The Cake Mix Doctor recommends a little almond extract in the batter and a rich chocolate glaze, but I think it's pretty good without either. Not Darn Good, that's another of her recipes...

In this book, she has a new version, using 3 eggs and a cup of chocolate chips.... It's currently on the cooling rack!
