I use
Mailwasher, which is a great program. You can preview the message before it is downloaded onto your computer. You can choose to delete, bounce or mark as friend. I don't use the bounce because a lot of the emails are using fake accounts so it doesn't help. If I don't recognize the name it gets deleted without being downloaded. Another great way to combat spam is to block all images from being loaded until you click to allow. Once they are downloaded the recipient can tell if the address is good. It kills me that you have to go into stealth mode just to read some email. Most of mine is through my hotmail account just to make it easier.
