How to Fix Faces Modified In the Game

How to Fix Faces Modified In the Game

If you modify a sim's facial structure in the game (with the face lifter or a hacked object), the sim will remember the original facial genetics. This won't be a problem unless you want the sim to produce children or if you want to export the sim for others to use. In those two cases, the sim's original facial genetics will be used.

It's relatively easy to fix this with SimPE:
  1. Open the character file in SimPE. (The easiest way to do this might be to use Neighborhood Browser, then Sim Browser, then open the sim, then click the "More" tab, and select "Open character file.")

  2. Choose Facial Structure in the list of resources.

  3. Choose "List" view. Note that for a character modified in game, there will be two versions, probably numbered "instance" 000 and 001.
The two versions might not be in order so pay attention to the "instance" number. You want to export the newest and replace the oldest with it.
  4. Right-click on the second version of the facial structure and choose "Extract." Just save the resultant file wherever it lands, with whatever filename SimPE wants to use.

  5. Right-click on version #1 of the facial structure and "Replace."

  6. Choose the .simpe file, not the .xml file.

  7. Save the character file and you're done! The sim will now have the proper facial structure when you export it with Sim Surgery and also will breed true in the game.

As with all tutorials, this takes much longer to tell than to do. Once you get the hang of it, it only takes a few seconds. I ran through all 300something sims in my Chain of Fools neighborhood in just a few minutes, going in numerical order so that I didn't overlook anyone. I did that because I had made changes to any NPC that wandered by while I was playing.

Thanks! Now I can tell people where to find this information that's not on an adult board.

Yeah. Good thinking.
