Moved the Ol' Baloo!

The Hullabaloo is back, on Sun Sims!

I got one of the scariest moving adventures done today. The Hullabaloo is back, and now it's hosted by Sun Sims!

Eventually, links to the old URL should start to work again, and they will automatically updated by the server to point to the new address for the Hullabaloo:

http://hullabaloo.sunsims.com/forum/

:)

Addendum: If you go to the old URL, it should automatically send you to the new URL now.

Nope, I get the "board out of service" message.

Greg 05-31-2007 03:52 PM

Try again. :D

At the moment, I'm trying to get the old domain working on the new server. If I did everything right, then the new domain will come back even if you go to the old domain.

Miros1 06-02-2007 01:19 AM

It's working!

innocentmonster 06-02-2007 01:27 AM

wow that is awsome looking i'll be sure to register as soon as I could on it and'll use this name if its not used already

Miros1 06-02-2007 02:03 AM

Unfortunately, the Hullabaloo has become a target for spammers, so Greg's not allowing new signups right now....

Testing external links: This morning I think I finally got the rewrite rules working the way I wanted. I posted this note at the Hullabaloo first, and now I'm testing the exact same links in an external environment.

Test Link #1 <-- Should end up at http://hullabaloo.sunsims.com/

Test Link #2 <-- Should end up at http://hullabaloo.sunsims.com/forum/

Test Link #3

This should be a picture of an onager coming from http://hullabaloo.sunsims.com/images/onager.jpg
The image doesn't even exist at the url it's pointing to.

So, if all went well, all internal and external links to the Hullabaloo should be working now, no matter what domain name they originally pointed to.

Test Link #4 <-- Should end up at the thread where I originally posted this.

wait so Greg should I not register yet?

Miros1 06-02-2007 08:40 PM

Yep, they're all working!

Well... actually... nobody can create a new account on the Hullabaloo right now. I took out its registration module to hold spammers at bay while I was turning off all the lights over there; and now I can't think of a good reason to put it back.

I'm really just wanted to keep the Hullabaloo on line as an archive because there are thousands of links to it.

Nevertheless, you should be able to read all the topics, and if you want comment on something at the Hullabaloo you can just start a thread here on Sun Sims with a link back to the Hullbaloo topic.

Now with all that said, can anyone think of a good reason to have two boards operating in parallel on Sun Sims? (That is, two general-public boards. We already have this board and the adult board going, so the ol' Baloo would make three.)

innocentmonster 06-03-2007 03:51 PM

Thank you Greg its just I started to read stories and then I decided to register because it seemed really awsome so i'll wait,oh and its a good idea because I hate spammers I know many people hate spammers so keep up the good job
