MTS2 Very Annoying Add!!!
Okay, I give up.
Whenever I go to MTS2 now, a Very Annoying Add pops up in the upper left hand corner, which completely blocks the item search feature as well as several other navigation options. This add is a continuous loop & there is no way I can find to close it or prevent it from popping up in the first place. This is in addition to the full-screen pop ups that great me 9 times out of 10 there now. Is anyone else having this problem & if so is there a solution? If not, then why the heck is it happening to me all the time now? -ZW (I have Firefox, if it matters. Since right clicking on the freaking adds does nothing, I can't find a way to "block" them at all!) |
You can try NoScript and use trial and error to block scripts. If you do, please tell me what exactly blocks it but still allows the scripts for the search button. I've tried but whenever I manage to get the popup ads blocked, I lose the search feature.
Also you might have adware, because I only get the full-screen ad that MTS2 uses as their sponsor. I don't get any other ads. Run Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy (both free), and any virus scanner you have installed to cover all bases. See if that fixes anything. |
Well, I don't get the Search blocking ad, so I suspect that's adware/spyware.
I have managed to block the full screen ad! Just add *.ugo.com to your Blocked or Restricted sites list... |
I looked at ugo.com its not an advertising site but its really disgusting so I don't mind blocking it!!

I'll have to try that.
I'm about ready to take a bat to MTS2... BTW, does anyone else find the latest MTS2 home-page layout as incredibility annoying as I do? |
It's less annoying than the new home page for TSR... Took me days to figure out how to navigate that thing, and I still can't go directly to what I want, but I can get there!

Gack! You're right! Got a FireFox question: I can't figure out how to add stuff to the pop-up block list. The only option I have when adding a new addy is to allow it; there is no option I can find to block it. Right-clicking on the annoying thing does nothing...:asking06: |
I'm asking friends for you, will post later!

Strangelv from the Moon Society Moo recommends NoScript. I think it's mostly to turn off JavaScript, which should help your problem, but it's not the final solution.

After experimentation on my machine, it looks like NoScript will do the job for you.
You will have to enable Javascript from MTS2 tho. You do this by clicking the NoScript icon in the lower right corner and choosing "Allow scripts from modthesims2." Strangelv also enabled scripts from the IP address, and didn't get the black overlay. I didn't bother with that step tho. |
Oh very cool!
Thanks! |
