I read...

I read somewhere that babies can be born in clothes in the game.Is this true?Does it work?Someone have any cheese? And where can I get this download and the cheese?

Miros1 07-26-2007 01:27 AM

We only have grilled cheese sandwiches here.

And yes, there are default replacement clothes for babies. I got a cute yellow onesie last night from InSim, I think. Basically, you can only have one outfit for babies installed at a time.

The other approach is to paint shirts and booties on the baby skin of your favorite skintones...

lol, that'd be hilarious. Oh and I take cheese from good sites. Maybe i'll try making some cheese or sandwiches.Oh and why one at a time? I wondered that because I thought i'd be like regular like how you download clothes for older than baby sims

Miros1 07-26-2007 01:33 AM

There's no mechanism to change a baby's clothes. Maxis just wants 'em in diapers only.

Think of it this way. You can only have one set of default replacement eyes, one set of default replacement skintones, one set of replacement face templates. That means one replacement baby outfit!

innocentmonster 07-26-2007 01:36 AM

wow I never thought of it in that way.Oh and which InSim?

The one built to go with your latest expansion pack installed.
For Seasons it is Version 2.6b.

Since it's only baby clothes, I'd look on the regular rather than adult site.

A default baby clothes replacement would be terrific! I'm growing very weary of the diaper...

Never even knew that it was something that could be replaced! Live & learn...

Zirconia Wolf 07-26-2007 07:25 PM

Just my luck: the server is to busy right now!

Hmmm.. So if I understand right, if I download the default mesh replacement I could create my own default baby-suit, right?

Hey, besides grilled cheese :grilledcheese: we also do

Cheesecake!

And cheese steak!

And sometimes just plain cheesy!

And when the cheese gets to be too much, there's always hot fudge!

Yepper. You could also extract the nasty white diaper and make your own colored or patterned ones and use the regular mesh.

If you do that, then all babies will wear the same color of diaper, right?

I hate that because I want to be able to tell apart my baby sims(one sim from the twin or triplet or quad)

Hmm, let me see if I can find my branding iron....

Greg 07-26-2007 09:53 PM

I have not yet found a way to tell babies apart. I've tried, but it seems the only way is to mouse over them and see what their names are.

Darn, if they'd just let you put custom nappies on them, that would do it!

Miros1 07-26-2007 11:13 PM

If you use very many geneticized skins, the game may pick skins by different makers for the two. I.e. if mom is S2 and dad is S3 and there is a skins (value .23 for example) in between, the two could end up Both S2, Both S3, Both .23, or any combination!

Example: Coby and Cody had different skins -- one was a slightly shiny Enayla skin and ended up with brown hair and the other was a Genensims freckled skin with blond hair -- and always looked very different, even as babies. I goofed when I gave them such similar names -- I could never remember which was which!

Zirconia Wolf 07-26-2007 11:38 PM

I just rely on different crib colors untill they become Toddlers & can actually be dressed differently! I've already got a carefully selected set of default faces (& some skins) & don't want to mess anything up...so the whole "skin" replacement idea doesn't thrill me. Just have to wait for the downloads to come back up...

(Seriously now, would it really have been that hard to have allowed for- at the very least- different colors of diapers? Of course I think the same thing about the "auto" maternity clothes, but...)

The tricky part will be designing something that makes semi-reasonable sense for all the families in the game....

Oh well, I guess that's what yellow is for!

Miros1 07-27-2007 12:00 AM

No, I'm not talking skin replacements unless you want replacements.

I'm talking about stuff like Madame Mim's geneticized version of the GenenSims freckled skin, with a different genetic value.
